I want to record a mix but unfortunately my computer is to slow to record a mix, and it probably doesn't have enough space on the hard drive as well (FYI- i have a Amd-k6 333Mhz processor & a 7 gig HD). A guy i work with suggested i record onto a minidisc... and then take it some where to get it mastered or to do it my self... thats sounds good cause i only have to spend $200 or less for the Minidisc player, instead of $1000 for a new comp... but any suggestion is recommended... sometimes its suck to be so broke...

I also record on MD, because my pc is as good as dead, and then I bring the mix to friends who put them into mp3. Almost no loss of quality. Also, recording on MD is very simple and practical.

Minidisc is a good option. some mp3 players will record as well..

you should be able to use a 333mhz computer to record a set..

use a program called total recorder, let me know if you need help finding or cracking it.

i record my mixes on MD and then transfer it to the computer.
i also have 300mhz computer and with 4gb HD! and i used music match box to record from the line in in my Sound Blaster and its rec
straight to mp3
so u can rec direct from your mixer or from your MD.

if you're looking into buying a mindisc recorder, i suggest the sony mz-r900. i have one myself and it's great. if your soundcard has an optical output, you can record digitally, and it'll sound that much better. i use my MD to record my mixes and listen to them on the bus and stuff, its great. or another suggestion might be to spend your $200 on a new hard drive, since space is your only issue. your comp should be good enought to handle recording on totalrecorder.

oh yeah, unless you have an optical output on your comp, its not really worth going from MD back to computer since the soundcard converts from digital to analog, then the MD changes from analog back to digital. then when you go back to the computer, the MD changes digital to analog, and the soundcard changes analog to digital again. it sounds pretty bad. you end up with a lot of noise by the time it gets back to your computer.

You have much to learn. Obviously if you pc cant handle recording to wav format, you are going to have to find some alternative way to record. I suggest you get yourself a good quality cd recording hi-fi seperate.Pioneer are really good at making these.
You will simply plug your phono leads into this and will be recording straight to cd from the original source, with no loss of quality.
I also recommend you to get the best quality gold plated phono leads you can for this, plus good quality needles, for the best quality possible.
Then ya can listen to the cd, and rip it to your pc as an mp3!
