I reckon I'm hearing master tempo (pitch lock) artifacts in track 6. What decks/software are you using?

Neither. The actual song sounds blippy. Around 35:00, there are some obvious timing problems. Take the recording in wav and measure the number of milliseconds between each pair of consecutive kicks; you'll notice that it's not constant. Generally this is caused by a shitty master tempo algorithm (ie you're trying to slow/speed up the track without affecting its pitch.) But it could be a transcoding type of problem with scratch live. I *hate* using scratch live for this very reason. You have to be very careful or you get these kinds of artifacts. You probably can't use master tempo on the CDJs AT ALL. But I don't use Serato or FinalScratch or any of that stuff so I don't know much about it.

ah. Thanks for the info. Yeah defiantly trying to speed up on that song with master tempo on. Yeah i dont really like using scratch live as well but still learning with just the cds. Im close but not there yet. What did you think of the flow and mix?

The master tempo on the 400s actually works very well; the problem is that Serato/Finalscratch use the pitch of the output to determine the speed at which the music is playing, and the actual encoding to determine where in the CD you currently are. So when you use master tempo, the software gets confused because of a disagreement between where you are and how fast you're moving. Consequently, the audio gets blippy as the software repeatedly things its ahead/behind where it should be. Conclusion: never use master tempo with serato/finalscratch. Use it all you like when you're just playing CDs.
Flow/mixing is OK. Obviously you're gonna have some problems mixing in/out of a track that's misbehaving on the decks. A couple of your transitions are a little on the passive side---You leave a lot of dead space between tracks. You could bring the tracks 8, 16, or more bars closer together in some cases without clashing. Obviously you don't wanna mix to aggressively; there is a balance. But try pressing play 8 or 16 bars sooner and see if you can make the mix work with less dead space in between the tracks.

It's always a judgement call. Best thing you can do: know your tunes! I generally fast forward a track quickly before I mix it in to see when it's gonna drop and when major elements come in. Then I'm more prepared for the timing of the mix. Then adjust the EQs as necessary (take away more mids if the melodic elements clash a lot.)
