[Prog 128 BPM]Leifo - Misdirection

Hey guys,
I have been working on this song for the past week and I guess I just wanted to see what others think of the idea before I pursue it too much. I made this song in Reason 3 utilizing mostly the Vengeance Essential House 2 sampleset and then synths I made using the subtractor. As with most of my songs the mixing quality is poor and I'm sure the mastering sucks too (my ears suck for that kind of stuff. None the less, let me know what you think. I wouldn't consider it a complete work yet, but mostly done. Enjoy!
You can download here:

*Update* Changed filehost and worked a bit on the song. Added a breakbeat into the song. Didn't have much time but at least I got a few things done
*Update* (5/29) I was on a mission when I got home today to add some cool crap after work. I tried (key word) to do a better mixdown but who the heck knows if I made it better or worse.
*Update* Lowered teh kick

It has a nice and soft float! Have to admit that even if jazz isnīt my cup . Great guitar play and I like the "airy synth" you use! And the sound sounds clear to me. Good job!

Thanks buddy! I appreciate the kind words. I suppose the lead is a bit jazzy. I thought it up on guitar and then used it for this song

That's pretty sad that I have had more people in cars next to me when i am randomly playing this song on the road compliment it then on a review board comment on it. Received two today and one comment two days ago. All... women
Me: "Oh you like this?"
Woman 3: "It makes me shake my ass!"

Ah! Finally home from vaca. Felt like an eternity for some reason. Man, I think I had more to drink in those few days than I have had in the longest time. I have done a few changes to the song but not much. I will do a new encode tomorow.

Dude! I try to listen to as much as possible on the boards and comment when I can, but have no patience for certain file hosts. This one in particular. Go with Speedyshare or yousendit. Post a little on other threads and let people know your face.

I will listen as will many others but most people have little or no patience for certain file hosters.#

Cheers
Nem

Gotcha. I had no idea that this one was a bad host. I will reupload to speedyshare. As for reviewing others on the board, that's very agreeable. I have done this whenever I could but unfortunately whenever I could was few and far between. BTW I didn't mean for that comment about more people complimenting it in public to come out cocky or impatient or anything like that. I was generally surprised was all. Having reread the comment I can seee how it could be construed that I was (being impatient and cocky) and I suppose I just wanted to apologize. Download link fixed in original post. Thanks again for the listen.

Listening..

Kick is a bit heavy compressed i think.. That breathy synth is really nice.. the bass could use more hi frequencies maybe.. I dont know, but are you a Schulz fan? really sounds like you are..

Ah the break section me like very much.. sweet.. melody change is cool as well..

You got the same production style as me almost..

But the kick is very heavy and doesnt go that well with the bass.. but ur on to something.. keep it going.

Thanks very much subtle. Yes I realize the obvious production faults of my mixdown. The bass drum is so friggin loud that it takes your ears off. I have never been great at mixing or compression/mastering. I'm fortunate enough to have a musical partner who has a great set of ears who imports these songs into Cubase with his gear and makes it sounds amazing. I think I am just testing the water for this song on the board, that's why I kind of dissed my own mixing abilities right off the bat. Thanks again fro the review. As far as Markus Shultz, I have only heard his song "without you near" remixed by Gabriel and Dresden and that song "Your loving arms" with that funky ass bass Yeah, I loved what I heard! I think for this song my biggest influences probably were a mix between David West and just a blind inspiration. Thank you very much for the listen and I will try to fix those subtlties. Glad you liked the break.

Updated the track with *hopfully* a better mixdown. I turned down the kick as mentioned and did a couple other litte changes. Worth a listen.
