Dunno Been Hammering Away At This Track For 3 Months Now, What Do You Think???

This is the second improvement of my 5th ever trance track.

There's not much to say other than, please give any feedback, whether its praise or critisism, and I hope you enjoy it

Do you mix on head phones? or monitors?

The mix sounds pretty washed up and noisy.... lots of work to be done.... but loved your ideas....they seem rock solid and the song has great potential..

The break at 2:25 can be much more euphoric ... i can't simply point out where exactly its wrong..but i am assuming some EQ work needs to be done...

Also you have to bring down the frequencies once their work is done...like in a stage drama...once u have showed the character's side of the story... u just take him out of the stage....but in such a way it doesn't distract the crowd(i hope u understand).... Suppose You have a cool Arp that was prominent in the beginning of the song.....you reduce its prominence...or atleast the prominence of the parts which conflict with the lead..and so on.... this is where automation comes in and its just not drawing lines my friend....u have to hit it right....

and the part after 4:03....was just noise....needs heavy re-work...

A suggestion would be to take a break from this track for say a week or two.... or maybe take a break from music itself...sometimes it so happens u get so attached to u r music....u r ears are accustomed to your mistakes...happens to me all the time....

Good luck with the track

Have to agree with previous feedback. Really love the ideas, but the mix pumps a little too much and you're still not cutting and shelving your bass, correctly. Very muddy mix-wise.

Bass still needs cutting??? Im after an aggressive type of baseline and I've cut as much as I think I can. does anyone here have fl studio and think that they know what to do with this??? if so I can send the flp.

You're thinking about it, incorrectly, on several fronts. It doesn't matter what DAW you're using, to begin with. What you want is a loud bass-line - not one dripping with mud. It just has to be louder than the rest of the tracks. You can cut a hell of a lot of bass out and it will still have a big bass sound. If you feel like you're cutting too much bass out, try turning up the volume on the bass-line, after you've cut everything from 90Hz up and shelved (by maybe -6 db, from 350 Hz (give or take a hundred Hz) down. Experiment with the Q.

Just to show you want I'm talking about :

(1) pertains to the cut that, for the kick in this song, was 30 Hz.

(2) pertains to the low-end shelf, which lowers a range of frequencies from the cut up through 500 Hz.

Bass-lines can use the same technique only the ranges are raised with the cut usually resting around 90 Hz.

Sorry but this is wrong everywhere.

You should restart from zero and rethink entirely your approach at music production.
