top notch you got with this sound, really. And an really individual style, some kind of mixture of uplifting melody and progressive style.
The only thing which might be improved is the "string-flute"-pad coming in at @ 3:55, perhaps it would be better to use a darker sound in order to increase the awesome effect of the incoming lead sound.
Compared to the overall professional sound of your tune this pad is a little bit too weak in my opinion.
Also thank you very much for sharing in 320kbit, really great.

I haven't heard the original but the melody is a little weird (?).

Hey mate! This track's full of nice things. I really like the percussion. Though I think that cowbell-sound (I think it is?) is too loud.
The main lead could be more stereo and louder as well and perhaps a different sound (it didn't sound so professional to me).
You definately brought some nice ideas forward here
