Ok, so i'm gonna go buy some djing stuff tomorrow. Decided on cdj800s + dxm06. But, i have a question. The cdj800s are $1,000 each, but cdj1000mk2s are $1,500. I have enough money to afford 1000s, but how important are the extra features? And are they worth the extra 50%?

I dont really plan on playing at clubs, but if the offer comes up i'll do it for fun. < thats the main thing, is mixing on cdj800s much less "fun" since u cant fire samples and stuff?

Thanks.

cdj800s look better (silver) and the 1000s not worth the extra cash in my honest opinion.

CDj200s look good- cheap too

I want to be able to scratch. No, not because it actually sounds good with trance music... just for my enjoyment

So, i think cdj200 isn't an option unfortunately.

EDIT: Denon DN-S3000 however, is a possiblity - They are $1,169 and seem to be half way between cdj800 + 1000 - a good thing no? Only down side is they're not pioneer :P

CDJ-800 is one mean machine I can tell you that. Haven't used a 1000mk2 though so cant really compare. Denon dns3000 or was it dns5000 has more precice pitch if I remember correctly. Dont remember the % for cdj1000mk2 from the top of my head but (i think it is 0.02%) cdj800 on my table here has the accuracy of 0.05% (on display but on papers it shows 0.06%)

----copied from djstore.ee----
The differences between the CDJ-800 and the CDJ-1000 include:
• no hot cue function on the 800 (the 1000 will store cue information in its permanent memory)
• reverse function is controlled by a button. on the CDJ-1000, it is controlled by a switch.
• 2 selectable pitch control settings: standard (+/-10%) and wide (-/+100%). CDJ-1000 features 4 ranges: -/+6, 10, 16, 24%
• touch/release and break/start controls are controlled by 1 knob. on the the CDJ-1000, there are 2 separate controls.
• no CD lock function (CDJ-1000 has option to override eject button)
• No WAV data memory
• CDJ-1000 features metal buttons.
----copied from djstore.ee----

hope this helps you.

most of these extra options seem unnecessary for the extra 500 bucks.

I would go for the 800. It look nicer, has a better vinyl feeling is cheaper and so on...
Why would you spend 1000$$(if you buy 2) more just for some shitty features you'll never gonna use. (or not much)

Damn I want those 800'se too!
But a 200 is also nice..just doesn't scratch..but you always have TT's for that.

I reckon buy 2 denon s3000's, way better value than the CDJ-800. Its got sampling, looping, pitch bend buttons and a rotating platter and you can store cue points .. You can probably get a pair of them for $1800-2000 if you pay cash or something .. CDJ-800s will be slightly cheaper but imo the only advantage of them is 0.05% pitch resolution, whereas denon only has effectively 0.1% (it has 0.02% but only for -/+4% range). I reckon you'd have way more fun with the denons..

in my experience, +4/-4 is the best range for mixing, if your going past that, i dont find it sounds good at all

this isnt a rule, just something i try to follow, cuz it egenrally sounds better.

im just one big pioneer fan. the simplicity and beefiness is amazing.
