alright i just recently picked up a pair of tech 1210 m3d's and was curious about wearing out the pitch control

i used to spin on shitty gemini's, so i was always touching the record because the response time from the pitch control to the actual platter was ridiculously slow

but now im trying to just use the pitch when beat matching, etc. (ie. i don't want to touch the record after ive cued it)

but doing this makes me constantly move the pitch up and then back down to give it a little boost forward, or vice versa

will this wear out my pitch? possibly make it inaccurate? can you even wear out the pitch?

any info would be great.

i honestly never heard of anyone ever wearing out their pitch control...

besides its a Technics.....they are made to last


even so.....u can take it into a shop and im sure they would have no problem recalibrating it

i've heard that its tricky to move a pithc control and remember where u had it.

can i recommend spinning the spindle nose (that piece of metal that u put the record on).. i have no idea what that things called, but u don't touch the record, so it doesn't jump the needle (if the records warped say), and u don't have that much torque w/ it so u don't wind up making the whipping sound that bad.

Pitch Control naturally wears in time... In Technichs it's very slow though.
I still recommend touching the record to "bend the pitch" cause that way you can do it yourself instead of "Counting" on the device to do it for you...

Anyways, the only problem with Technix is that when you put the pitch on 0 the pitch slide "Stucks" at the 0 point... With time it get s very hard to control the pitch @ +0.5> pitch > -0.5 .
That's why there is the button in the m3k that's like the quartz lock at the vestax... it brings the pitch to 0 by pressing the button, thus preventing pitch from wearing out.

I personally don't touch the records, but help them along by spinning on the record label or slow it down by the platter. I think everything will wear out over time or prolonged usage- even Techs.

well yeah i mean obviously im not touching the actual record when im adjusting, i touch the label or the platter

but im just curious if 'riding the pitch' will significantly wear out the pitch faster than normal wear?
