Problem with stylus sticking in the groove...
I recently replaced one of my defunct stylii a week ago with brand new ones, but they seem to have a tracking problem.
I'm using the Stanton 890 SAs, and they're great. The only problem is that one of them doesn't stick...the needle seems to be slanted otwards the outisde when the record plays(turntable is in rotation)...I'm guessing the tracking force from the 12" pushes the needle away, but from what it looks like, the tip is undergoing some unecessary stress, and doesn't look like the 'normal' one I have on the other turntable.
Although the fact that the tip isn't tracking properly bugs me, the inability for the tip to stick while fast cueing right before a release is even more frusterating...just slight movements back and forth will cause the whole headshell to rock back and forth because the needle acts as a pivot, only the pivot is sorta off balance and off center. THus, the weight of the entire cartridge and headshell cause the tip itself to pop outta the groove and makes it very difficult to maintain a cue point without having to worry about the cue point being missed.
Really could use some help...thanks btw.
