Shame / Disagreement There goes pair number 4........

yep

mid mix last night- pair number 4 of the HDj 1000s decided to break.
Right cup cutting out?
Yep- exactly the same problem as before.
Once again less than a month they have lasted.
1st pair: 6 months (with something rattling inside)
2nd pair: a month
3rd pair- maybe 10 uses
4th pair- less than 5 uses.

That was the final pair- i agreed with my dealer that when (not if) this pair broke, i would get something else replaced/substituted free of charge.
Im at a loss of what to get as ive had most pairs on the market at some point - possibly new technics Dh1200, or i might import a pair of sony 7506s personally, although not convinced about these due to the shape of the earcup (i wear them with the band behind my neck, so really need round cups)

Oh well, once again, my trusty mdrv700s save the day as my back up/emergency headphones.

In short- awesome sound and clarity, but if you get them have a LOT of patience for repeated warranty claims.

that sucks about your pioneer's. i was going to suggest 7506's but if you mix with your headphones behind your neck they dont really feel too comfortable. maybe those new technic's 'phones would work nice. good luck with whatever you go with. keep us posted

well, given the current exchange rate, i can import 3 pairs of 7506s for the price of the technics/pioneers in the uk...

But i cant try before i buy as to the earcup factor- i NEVER have the band over my head- i find it uncomfortable/claustrophobic and it messes up my hair
Any gen on these? One of the few pairs available that i have no experience of

back in the day when i used to rock my v700s i couldnt stand having them on my head, i always had them laying behind my neck but when i got my 7506's that all changed. i started wearing them on my head and just got used to it. you can still slide them back and pinch the cup between your shoulder and your ear but they dont seem like they designed to wear like that. the cups have alittle bit of play built into them but they dont swivel nearly as much as the v700s

on the plus side.... they are way lighter than the v700s and the sound quality is excellent. they have a good amount of bass, its definitely clearer than the v700s and they have good mids and highs. i really cant think of anything that i dont like about these headphones. i've had mine for over a year, and i know a dude that has had the same pair for 4+ years. i've still got my v700s but they are just collecting dust as my back up pair.

sony 7506s on their way across the atlantic as i type....
I have nowt to lose if i dont like them- very in demand headphones so i will be able to sell them no probs.
Plus a pair of technic DH1200s (the new ones) being sourced by my dealer as a replacement for the pioneers.

ive used my pioneers hdj1000's for 2 years religiously, for djing and non djing use every damn day and im losing signal. I noticed the plastic covering the copper wire either wore off, or cut cuz all i see is the naked wire. So once i figure out how to patch it, ill be good.

I would suggest the technics. They are very good quality soundwise and significantly lighter than the Pios.

you have either the shittiest luck in the universe, or there is someone sabotaging your cans. i mean, even if they had it on the box "this phone will break soon", by 4 pairs, one of them would have been a surprise and not break.

seriously speaking though, you sure there isn't something that indirectly affecting the phones? do you keep them in the same place as your sony's? has your little brother been trying to play DJ? heh.

seriously, this thing is just uncanny. friend of mine has had his for about 8 months, no problems whatsoever.
