vestax TT pdx2300 mk2

Ok I've read some stuff about the vestax TT's and it seems there is some sort of issue about the pitch adjustment, it seems to me that people say the pitch adjusts in increments instead of a smooth flow or something. Is this so, and are there other issues that would influence a beatmatch?

I also saw that people dislike the high platter, On the new vestax models PDX 2300 mk2 they have a micro fine pitch adjustment, and a much lower platter, and a J tone arm. Has anyone used this TT, and how does it compare to a Tech mk2, they are exactly the same price and I'm wondering if it won't be a better buy?

It sure is tough saving up for a proper deck, and I can prob afford a TT at present, and I'm thinking tech, but then I see the PDX 2300 mk2 and it almost looks like it could be a much better buy.

in short, it is. most people will disagree with me though

first of all, get the mk2 pro, has a better tonearm pivot section.

the pitch adjust is analogue, the display is digital (which is where you get the increment idea from) but to be honest the digital display is pretty useless. the little joystick (microfine adjustment)is handy, but IMO its not something to write home about. if you dont want the digital display and microfine adjustment then have a look at the pdx2000 mk2 pro. its exactly the same deck with a straight arm and minus the guff above.

the j arm is great, best of both worlds. lower record wear than straight arms (although if you get the right carts it wont make as much difference) and better tracking than a s shaped arm. the new platter is cool too, but personally i dont care, so long as the thing works well, which it did anyway (i own pdx 2000).

as far as comparing this deck to a techics deck is concerned, in my opinion it is better than a m5g. higher torque makes it a much easier deck to use (you dont have to be all dainty with it, it will take some shit ), although its not rediculously high like some other decks (i.e. ttx). the tracking is miles miles miles miles miles miles miles miles miles miles miles miles miles miles better. the ultrapitch is just amazing. unlike other decks with similar features, it retains the +/-10% pitch adjustment accuracy on the fine pitch, but just moves the central point of of the fader up or down as desired. an m5g is useless for beatmatching when you switch it to +/-16%, as the fader covers a total of 32% making it unprecise.

in short, get this deck! i have both pdx2000 and a m5g, and even the pdx2000 is better. the mk2 pro series is fantastic!

Thanks Tu face, I think I am going to go for the pdx

I don't care for the display, i honestly think they could have left that out. But as far as I can see it seems to be the better choice for me.
Also, as far as I have read, It seems vestax does not have reliability issues like stanton or numark or behringer etc. It seems highly unlikely that I would need to replace a tt for a couple of years.

vestax are very reliable decks. its the only deck to really match the techs on pure build quality, although it might not look it from the outside!
