I have the 1650s, not a bad table to be honest, although my lack of experiences on great decks is probably showing through here....
Despite what people say, cheap decks aren't absolutely shit, you will be able to dj, play or anything completely fine on them.
Admittedly they do not have the most accurate motor in the world so if you are using for listening they probably wouldn't be THAT good (you might get slight variations in pitch while playing). They are good for getting beat matching perfect though when you move to djing! The torque is only around 1, which is fine for listening, but when moving to djing it can be a bit weak, so it may be worth getting the 200s instead (1.7). Or as someone else said, used Techs will set you up pretty well.
What I do know though is that the Ortofons are an excellent cart. The sound quality is very good, they won't skip easily, pretty easy on the groove too. If you want to save a bit of money here - get the OM, not the Concorde. Same cart but different mounting, so OM is a bit cheaper. All Ortofon carts are the same, only the needle (which can be swapped between carts) differ. You can get away with buying the cheaper type carts (Pro, DJ Pro) here, and later buying more expensive replacement styli later on if you want. There are two types of styli, Elliptical (Ortofon put a suffix E to denote this type, eg Nightclub E) and Spherical (eg Pro S). The E's are better sound quality, but a bit harder on the vinyl (more wear) than the S styli.
They are a good cart and needle, others may recommend the Shure Whitelabels - another good cart but I have no experience with these. If you are planning on moving to djing soon, don't get an audiophile cart because you won't be able to use these for djing.
