Powerful Synth Sequencing

Does anyone have tips on how to make a powerful synths for floor filling action. Maybe what kind of modifications (attack, release enveloppe, frequencies, etc...) should I try to do?

What i like to do for fatness is take a couple of oscillators and heavily detune them. That's right as much as you can without the note sounding "false". Works best with sawtooths. Got some fat home-made patches like that.

Thank you Pjotr G for your ideas... I'll give them a try... I mainly use the Reason Software to make my music... In the process of making an original mix

sweet, i use reason too and my main gripe is the nasty patches, if you dont mind me asking cuz im ignorant, what do you mean "detune" them?

i'll try and find those oscillators if they're in reason.. which thing are they part of, the subtractor?

Hmmm, well with "detune" i mean the following. You have for example 2 osccilators (tone generators) with the same sound on the same tone. Then you alter one of the two and make it sound just a tiny tiny little bit higher (or lower) than the other. Not much, don't even think about going above (or below) half a semi-tone, or the note will only sound odd. If there is any part in Reason where you could do this it'd have to be the subtractor synth, since this one emulates a synth...

try native instruments reaktor

Don't know what kind of approach you're seeking but...

if you want the TOTAL CONTROL approach you should try native intruments' REAKTOR... i don't have it, but have tried the 2.3 version and it was really kickass.... now it's on version 3.something...

(Just note Reaktor isn't oriented for sequencing - but it's a hardcore synth)

Pjotr G,

I tried what you advised to do, and indeed, it was a great idea... I also added more subtractors with the same patch and made minor modifications to each one of them... It's sounding spectacular... I'm sure I'll let you guys in on the Original Mix when it's done
