m44-7 setting question

im used to mixing and want to learn scratching stuff then i bought m44-7, but it skipped alot when i tried to scratch it, currently using technic sl-1200m3d, prob there is something wwrong with my turntable setting, etc any advices?

the m-44 7s have to be broken in first and then they won't skip. Also you have to have the anti-skate setting set to 0. To break in the cartridge just let the needle play on an unpressed part of a record overnight. Thats the part that after a song is done there is this little spiral imprint that the needle rides on. I have m-44 7's and they are starting to skip again (the needles wear out really quickly). But i am gonna upgrade to m44 G's instead becasue they sound way better and have skip resistance.
