um, this is a really stupid question. A&H hands down. the DJM has effects, but they arent that great to begin with.

Not familiar w/ the Heath brand but I have had my DJM-500 for a couple of years now and I have loved it. Sound quality is good and the effects are really fun, allow some character to your sets. Decent amount of inputs, nice look to it, and has send return function if you plan on adding additional units to your mixer.

Allen & Heath, no question. I would rather have the DJM-500 over a Xone:02, I guess. But I would rather have ANY other A&H over the 500.

You would have to designate which A&H for me to give some pros and cons.

so the xone:02 beats the 500...what makes a&h so much better than the 500....maybe next time you might want to chose a model

about a year and a half ago I owned a Xone 62 for a day and hated it. Took it back and got a DJM 600 and loved it. A year and a half later I have played with both mixers a lot, and I have changed my opinion about the 62. Its a much more serious mixer. But in the end, they're both quality, and using one isn't going to make you better or worse of a dj than using the other.

Yeah, but he's referring to the DJM-500. The Xone:62 is unquestionably a better mixer.

Yeah, but the effects on the 500 aren't beat-synced. There are less of them. There is no sampler, and no split cue. It does have the user-friendly layout, to its credit. I used to have a 600, and thought it was quite nice, but I never even considered the 500. 600 vs. 62 is a different story, but since he's considering the 500, once again, I have to say that the 62 wins, hands down. After upgrading to a Xone:92, I have to say that I would much rather have the filters than the entire range of effects on the 600 (and especially the 500, which are kind of worthless). And the sound quality between the units is worlds apart.

i own a 500 becasue everywhere in hte city has a pioneer so there isnt much to get used to. allen heath is actually better seeing as the technology in that is like 10 years more advanced. the 500 basicaly has everything you need some neat effects too. Here is why I like the Pioneer 500 so much.

1. i really hate the cue/master headphone thing. It doenst have this function but most people hate it becsaue its lacking it.

2. i hate EQs that are so drastic. -20db is great (which the pioneers 500 has)! I think thats the perfect amount. Everything else is like -26bd - 32bd. Oh yeah most people dont like the -20 they dont think its enough.

Its funny becasue people dont really like the Pionner 500 becasue of those reasons but i love it for whats its lacking.

I have low standards

If you can't figure out the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1/1 beat indication lights on a 500 you shouldn't be allowed outside unsupervised.
