Pioneer CDJ suggestions for a beginner

Are these good for a complete beginner setup? Or should I save up a bit more and get the more pricey CDJ200s? And how about these right here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Pioneer-CDJ-800MK2-Digital-DJ-CD-Player-NIB-CDJ-800-MK2_W0QQitemZ180042622487QQihZ008QQcategoryZ4785QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

A lot of people starting out like the CDJ-200s. If you want to scratch or have the 'vinyl' control surface, save up and get the CDJ-800s.

200s are definately a huge improvement on the 100s. The price difference between the two is pretty slim and justifies getting the 200. As for the 800 and 1000s, they have a couple of extra features, but IMO really not worth it for the huge price difference unless you absolutely need those features.

Pretty much what he said.

Dude this eBay auction is a pefect example of what NOT to do when buying online:

1) Low feedback rating
2) All items bought so far cost only a couple of pence/cents (done for the sole purpose of allowing the seller to get some feedback rating to lure in gullible punters like you)
3) He has not sold anything before
4) Items located in Far East
5) Ridiculously low price for the gear
6) 99% of the time these clowns have the exact same auctions listed under slightly different user ID's...
7) User ID is just a bunch of random numbers (don't know why the scammers do this but they often do)
8) Hard to tell where the seller is based - states Sweden but item listed in UK pounds, shipping rates listed to USA but item in China. Confusing...

Avoid like the plague

Back to your question, have you looked at CDJ200, CDJ800 or the Denon range?

It just means you gotta be more quick on adjusting between transitions...

Still, not something easy for a noob to pick up on.

i agree with him. it's not that you can't mix properly, but a CDJ-100S is a tool that really does cramp your style. for me, any deck should be able to hold all the way through a mix without need for correction. sure, i can seemlessly correct with .1, but i shouldn't have to if my ear is polished enough for me to pitch the track at the right tempo.

not to mention, try doing 3 deck mixes with something like 2 CDJ-100S and another source. a techno DJs nightmare!
