I need methods and tips on how to use certain of the effects. The main one is the 2x's copy...where in a song is this appropiate. I've been trying to find ways to use it and I can't...I got both echoes down already ... as well as the filter and phaser...just need help on the 2x.

if you turn the rate knob all the way to the right and push the effect crossfader up a little it makes a cyborgish sound (with 2x copy, echo, and the other echo). you can tap the effect off and on to create some crazy souding stuff. you can also tap the bmp button to make the cyborgish sound sound different (2 beats, half beats, 1/4 beats, or whatever)

you can do buildups with the echos also. tap to the beat, push the effect crossfader up a little bit, and turn the rate knob all the way to the left. hit the button to turn the effect on and turn the rate knob to the right and it causes a buildup.

also i like to hit the echo button on the last beat or two of a mix (the track i'm mixing out of) and then killing the eq's for the track and it echos out. the main thing is to be careful when using echos because if you have the effect crossfader up more than half way you get mad feedback and it sounds like shit.

i think the filter is great and also use that to mix in/out of tracks (i like the filter on the dxm06 better than the one on my djm800).

the most important thing is being suttle. i never had the effect crossfader pushed up more than 1/4 of the way when i used the effects.

im sure there's more but i havent used the dxm in a while...

.. also a SUBTLE flanger or phaser never hurts a mix. you can change the length of the flange by tapping half beats, every beat, or every other beat. and using the rate knob of course (i never realy touced the rate knob when an effect was being used unless i was doing buildups with the echo)

... and if you tap on snares instead of the bass beats it causes most of the effects to sound totally diff and you can try messin around w/ that.

the 2x was my least favorite effect but tapping the tap button at different incriments and also tapping the effect on and off with beats and stuff can cause some crazy stuff to happen. but for the most part 2x was rarely used..

Yea you did...thanks. I tried the mixing technique of using the echoe and then killing all Eq's and it sounded great. I dont think I'll use 2x though, I find it useless.

I also have that mixer and it does make the echoes way too loud if you do it over the track playing at full volume.

I nice trick i like to use with the normal echo is to have the song playing and just before it is about to crash into a breakdown move the echo fader all the way to the top, then within one beat flick the phono/line switch and stop the record with your hand and pull it back around a quarter turn. You can then turn the rate knob every few beats to create a buildup and then just as you let the record go flick the phono/line switch back and very quickly after that kill the echo. Timed right this sounds amazing but is very easy to mess up on so i wouldnt attempt it in front of a crowd.

In response to previous post it is easier to flick phono/line switch than killing eq's as you dont have to worry about missing one of the buttons and leaving some freq's still playing.

^ That's true about the phono/line switch...but I can't use your techniqe since I have CDJ-200's and it has no vinyl resemblance like the 1000's.

then you can probably just press pause just before the crash and start again without using phono/line switch as cdjs start and stop instantly dont they? I only do it that way so as not to get the sound of the record braking on the live channel

I just tried it and it didn't work...I forgot about the stutter-start the 200's have which ruin the trick

One thing I dont like about this mixer is that it has a low pass filter instead of a high pass and you cant use the vocoder on the normal channels.
