Definitely not, I'm almost certain.
Extreme temperatures in the cargo area? It's not that bad! The only things I could think of that would be damaged was aerosol products and air tight products.

I've packed CDs in my checked luggage before, although they were mainly data CDs (and blanks) in a spindle.
TSA evidently couldn't figure out how to open it and actually ripped one of the tabs and a chunk of the cake box cover off in an effort to 'examine' them.
I would worry a bit more about theft, though. Safest bet is to carry them with you.
