Pratice Pratice and Pratice that is what it takes ... it's hard .. but when time progress you will get the hang of it

I tried using the pitch control only ("look ma, no hands!"), but nothing good ever came out of it. Why? Because adjusting the pitch control will not immediately match the drifting beats. When you make it faster, the vinyl first has to "catch up," and only then the beats will be matched for some time...

u don't use the slider 2 match like that.

eg. (say u r bringing to +4 but u dont kno yet)
u would go:
+/-0
+8
+2
+6
+3
+5
+3.5
+4 and then knock the pitch up slightly and bring it back to +4 to be matched.

That was my guess
So you do a "big" change first, then move it halfway in the opposite direction to "counterbalance." That's what I thought you should do.

But how is that more accurate than using your hands?
And wherefore all these claims of achieving 100% precision with this method?

use your hands to nudge the record towards a match.... then use only the pitch control.

if you get used to matching with mostly the pitch control, you can not only mix on vynil, but will be able to pick up on CD decks very quickly I learned with the pitch, quickly at that, and then got on CD decks in a matter to minuites

THAT'S a new one, thanks for sharing that tip. I normally only start from a slower pitch and slowly pitch it up, nudging the record as I'm pitching up to keep the beats matched, then see if it drifts, and if it does slide the pitch a little upwards until I finally get a satisfactory beatmatch. But then again there never was a standard way of beatmatching, I'm sure every single DJ has a different preference which works best for himself.

I like having it to fast and slowing it down also. I think it's easier to slow it down the same amount each time then to speed it up. If you do it both ways you'll notice you have to apply different presure because one way your with the platter, and the other you're against it.

I switched to pitch-riding when I couldn't even beatmatch the nudging way. This one night I was just playing aroung with my decks and decided to give the slider-technique a go. I found it very natural to me, even tough it took a loooooong time to get even decent at mixing this way...

Now I think it was good that I started practicing pitch-riding because my decks (Gemini XL-500 II's) aren't exactly like Techs and they don't hold the pitch very well. Corrections are very quick, easy and most of all smooth to make by using only the pitch slider.

By the way, the more you practice pitch-riding, the faster you can actually match the beats. Sounds obvious, but I really surprised myself when I realized that I could almost tell the difference in pitch by listening to the beats drift apart for only a couple of seconds.

Now I actually have time to think what I wanna play next!

Put a track on your CUE point.
With CDJ by pioneer by holding CUE press you play the track and when you stop holding it the track goes back 2 CUE.
I press CUE that way when Beat comes and then I hear whitch track is going faster. then slowly move the pitch towards the right speed.
every few seconds release CUE and press it back when beat comes.
That way you dont have to you the nudge except 4 fyne tune just before you mix both tracks.
