ok, so the other day i was in tom lee checking out some mixers. i have heard nothing but good stuff about the pvc275 so i looked it over quite a bit. the one thing that really got me was how cramped it was. when i adjusted eq my hands would hit other rotaries etc (i don't have chubby fingers or anything). it is also quite small in overall size (i guess thats good, but it makes everything so cramped!). i dunno, does anyone else out there notice this?

I see what you're saying. My mixer is pretty big and thyings are spread out and I still have to be careful, so I can only imagine on the 275. Maybe it would help to make your set-up to where you can angle the top of it towards you at about 30-40 degrees, that way it's not flat and you have less of a chance to hit the other knobs

Yeah, i have the vestax too. it is a little cramped, and i have REALLY small fingers.

i have it on an angle, and it is a bit better though.

i'll agree with ya mike.. this is one reason i went with the A&H xone:32... i found the vestax (and most mixers like it) to be fairly cramped.. same issue with my old stanton RM3S.

The layout on the xone:32 is quite a bit nicer... plenty of space, but the mixer is also a few inches longer... which prevents it from seating in my case.. but oh well.

Not me. I justed switch over from a gemini ps 676. The PCV seems like it has more room for me.

u just have to be extra careful i guess

the xone:32 has a triple VCF system - high pass, low pass, and band pass... with resonance control, LFO, and tempo tap.. and 4 presets.

you can use it to do creative frequency effects - the cutoff of the hpf/lpf/bpf is controlled by a slider positioned like a crossfader.

you can also use it somewhat like a super-eq... chop out or add resonance (boost) to a bassline, lift out or remove highhats, and do controllabe flange-like effects... the resonance control allows for some interesting sounds!

the lfo oscillates the cutoff point in time with the tap-programmed tempo. it also has an x2 switch which doubles the vcf rate to add a buildup to the effect. when the LFO is on, the frequency slider controls the depth of the oscillation, not the actual frequency.

fairly handy... basically its somewhat like the VCF's on a synth... these filters are high-quality analog, no digital here.
