So lately I've been trying to go with the whole, do it yourself approach compared to paying someone to do it for me. I had a go fixing my Cue and Play buttons on my cdj's (the tact switches were knackered) and had no problems.

So I'm now looking at greasing up the bearings on the cdj.. What kind of oil/grease should i use on the bearings? Can't really find any alternatives to the 'official oil' that's used which is also difficult enough to find.

What else does an engineer do when he gives the cdj a quick once over..

I can fix all the buttons now, so just curious as to what else I might be able to do.

I've forgotten which member used to service the cdj's.. Was it Ryan?

Hey! I'm curious how you opened up the CDJ's. My cue/play buttons are stuck too and I need to fix them. I have the CDJ 800, so I wanna take them apart, fix them and paint them black. My concearn is the jog wheel. I don't wanna mess it up.

I did some searching and I can't seem to find a reference to any bearings in the cdj1000mk3.

I guess you want to grease the rollers around the platter.
If you search for the cdj1000 service manual, it will show you what grease to get and which parts to grease. I looked for the grease they use and can't seem to find it.

Maybe you could look for grease used in printer rollers, I bet that is easier to find as there are way more printers/printer repair shops out there.

How do you do.. Thanks a mill for putting that much effort into this.

I did exactly the same thing as you've done (should have mentioned that apologies). And found that reference in the service manual and any time i found the stuff it was out of stock but would have cost $40 or something ridiculous.

By bearings i did mean the rollers for the jog wheel. Thought they were referred to as bearings as well but I guess not.

That idea about the printer rollers is a great one.

I'll wait and see whether anyone else pops on here with some advice on what to use. Last thing i want is to make the platter stick more.

I downloaded the service manual first to have a read. Then I followed this rough guide to give me a rough idea of where to go and then desoldered the tact switches (after waiting for new ones to arrive from ebay).

Here is a direct link to the guide. Might differ ever so slightly for the 800.
Quick question are your buttons working they just don't click any more? Or are they completely busted?

My buttons don't click anymore. They still work if you bang them hard, they just don't click.

Yep exactly the same as myself. Bought myself a new switch for £2.50 on ebay. And did a quick bit of desoldering/soldering and hey presto good as new! Saved myself 75 euro repair job.

I looked mine up and it doesn't require any soldering. YAY! But, since I'm gonna have them open, I'm feeling tempted to paint them black and change the LED's to bright blue.

By the way guys, if any of you ever need a service manual for CDJ's, most models are here:

CDJ's are actually really easy to take apart, just make sure you're careful/respectful of ribbon connectors and where each screw goes as you take it apart. Do the same in reverse to re-assemble.

The switches will over time lose their click and eventually become unresponsive but luckily it's an easy fix, either just by replacing the board or soldering a new switch on (depending on model).

If you're going to get in to modding woodmeister, then just make absolutely sure that the LED's are the same voltage and power draw (amps) otherwise they can do weird things tot eh rest of electronics.

Here's a guide where the guy used LEDS from another pioneer model. It may still need checking as to whether they match what your device uses.
