Well, everybody seems to know what they're talking about, if you're looking for quality then Ortofon is your cart. I would recommend the blue OM DJ E(lliptical) if you don't mind the headshell mount and if you don't abuse your needles, or the S(pherical) otherwise. If you don't like having a headshell and if you are ready to pay a little more for a wicked looking cart then get the Concorde.

Stanton Groovemaster II's are what i've got. i think they are currently the best ones out there..but prove me wrong (best ones out there by stanton that is) if you want quality cartridges, get ortofon

I agree with Skywarp, I use Ortofon Concorde Pro S, and they are excellent, you'll hear the difference in sound quality immediatly.

i agree with skywarp about the ortofon dj, it's ideal for
scratching and backcuing. the cartridge almost never jump, at least my does'nt... if you're into sound then this would'nt be the one, you should go for the concorde or stanton i-track or the groovemaster...

ne1 who's had a problem with stanton cartridges before?
it seems that some of them cut down the volume on one of the channels. however, if you lick on the contacts, then plug it in again, it seems to be okay again...strange

greetz...

Hmm, the Ortofon line of DJ cartridges are the best sounding DJ cartridges you can get right now. The OM and Concorde versions (headshell and direct mount) have absolutly identical sonic properties so it doesn't really matter which one you pick, they will behave the same. If you decide for one of the lower-end Ortofons, definitely go for the black PRO since it is absolutely similar to the silver version in every aspect except the stylus tip radius which as far as I know doesn't really matter too much.

If you want a high-end Ortofon I would recommend the blue DJ ... although the Nightclub is more expensive, the DJ has better characteristics (higher lateral compliance) => better tracking. Their sonic properties are identical.

Basically you can't go wrong with any of the Ortofon cartridges.

I would STRONGY advise against the high-end Stanton cartridges since I had significant problems with more than one of those carts ... from very poor tracking capabilities (at a party ... made spinning a good set a nightmare - that was a Trackmaster II) to the cart literally falling apart (iTrack).

And no, I don't work for Ortofon, just like their carts a lot =)

Oh and another thing, Ortofons aren't the first choice for a scratch DJ. Although they have excellent tracking, their suspension is very stiff so they will wear out your records really fast if you scratch a lot. In that case I would recomment the Shure M44-7 ...

Satan (eek!)

I agree with everyone. Get the ortofon concorde with the nightclub s stylus. I've been using them for the last 6 years and they haven't given me any problems.
