wtf? no cue master heaphone monitoring on djm500?

i was looking at the mixer comparison specs on the official pioneerdjpro.com website and when it came to the headphone monitoring (cue/master) line, the 300 had it, the 600 had it, but the 500 didn't have it.

what does that mean? that you can't preview the tracks on the other side and not be able to try to beatmatch with the tunes? explain cause im close to getting my gear in 3 days
don't you need it to be able to beatmatch?

This is one of the only reasons I hate the djm-500. If it had the cue/master % knob on the 500, it would make it so much more valuble of a mixer. But the only way that you can adjust ratio between the volumes of cue/master on the 500 is to use the headphone eq, which the other two (djm-300 and 600) don't come with. I think this really sucks because then you can't ever just listen to the cue track, ie if you are trying to cue up your first beat and the live track has a really strong bass beat and the cue track has one that is normal to weak.

This is one of the main reasons that I never suggest the 500. The differences might be slight, but the value of the mixer is so much more with the 600. I figure if you are willing to spend $600-$800 on a mixer, why not just save up a few more months and get the 600. It's one that you won't ever feel the need to replace.

Thinking again about how you can get away with this, so you don't feel that you got cheated, let me explain it a little better. First off, the headphone volume between cue and live is always 505/50% of each. This mean if you want to increase or decrease this ratio, you either have to increase the cue volume with the headphone eqs, or turn the master cue button off, so that you in effect have no live track playing and it's just the cue track that you hear. I still don't like this because I find the use of the cue/master volume ratio knob very very usefull to get my beats EXACTLY on when I am recording. For loud PA systems and home use, you probably won't notice it as much or at all, depending on how good your ears and speakers are.

why not just mix with one headphone on (cued record) and listen to the monitor with the other ear?

i understand for recording you might want to mix in the headphones just so you can get everything EXACTLY perfect, but i mean when you're on a loud system its not necessary

Yeah, Im pretty sure you can. Just like most mixers. I think what they are complaining about is the cue split monitoring where you hear a lets say channel 1 on left and master on right on headphone.
However, most mixers has a regular cue/master where you can listen to a combination of both,,,, lets say channel one and master, just like you mentioned, or just cue alone or just master alone.

Im actually fine without the split cue monitoring, Im used to mixing with shoulder on ear. HOwever, I can still mix with both headphones on with the master and cue together. Usually, what I would have to do is beat match with headphone on shoulder, then do transition with headset on. For the most part, i mix with the headset off.
