I think the DJM 500 is a nice mixer. It's very user friendly and has some cool features. I've been told that it has problems with over heating and that many other mixers offer superior sound quality. I guess it all depends on what you're planning on using it for. If you're using it as a play at home mixer,,, than I think it's a great idea. If you're planning on using it at shows or a club,,, you might want to consider another mixer. hope that helped.

well put. but a home mixer shouldnt cost over $700 !

my main complaints about the 500:
a) no crossfader curve control
b) no cue fader ("cue pan" as some mixers call it)
c) little control over the cheesy pre-programmed effects
d) the crossfaders don't exactly last if you scratch on them.

over $700 is **far** too much for a mixer without cue or curve control.

I have used a DJM 500 for almost a year. Very solid piece of equipment. Very DJ friendly and have not had any probs with it.

I agree, this mixer is way overpriced for not having certain features. This is why I always recommend that you save for the 600 if you want a mixer like the 500 because it is worth the money at that point--if you have it. If you are only starting out, then get a really cheap mixer and learn, see if you will stick with it. Techs are great because you can always sell them on ebay for what you paid for them AT LEAST!

all i have to say on the topic of mixers:

no more $$ than a DJM600, every feature you could need, and pure quality.

Yup, the xone:62 is a dream of a mixer (I own one), but it might be overkill for a bedroom dj... Xone:32 is nice also if you don't need the 4th Eq, but still want the quality.

What are the main differences between the 500 and 600?

And does anyone know how wide it is? Cause if I get one I'd have to redo my case I made

My 500 is just over 30cm wide

As for the differences.. I think the 600 has more effects than the 500 but I don't think its worth the cash

I own one of those and I don't think I will change anytime soon
