Is this source that you are purchasing the decks from local?
Either way, go to your pro audio store, take a look at a new one. Take off the platter, observe.
If the person is local, check out the deck for yourself. Look at the exterior, take out the platter. Obviously, if the thing looks shitty, it may have not been taken care of properly... but it may still work perfectly (never judge a book by its cover)
Turn on the deck, make sure it starts amd stops effectively... compare it with the one from the store. Check out the tonearm, make sure its not fucked.
If the person or store is not local, make sure you get pics of it... make sure the pics sent to you are legit and not some pics from the internet. Make sure they give you a receipt stating the condition of the decks "fully function, some cosmetical damages" "broken tonearm" etc,...
Thats all i can think of.
One more thing, if the person is local, try to find a person who knows a bit about the 1200 to come with you to check it out
