I've used Acid Pro 4 myself, you can get pretty perfect mixing with it. And it supports VST effects too.

ages ago i used to use cool edit to do it, just adjusting the pitch using percentages (which you can work out with maths easily) and using the eq's on there etc, its really good especialy if you use cool edit pro or get the studio plugin for CE2000
