Luke, haf some questions to u coz i m a complete idiot here
Between the RM-3 and the PCV-175, which would u recommend?
And Between the 175 and 275, wat r the differences?
Lastly, when i do get a mixer, wat are the more important things i should look out for?
|
between the two I would suggest the vestax, but on the stanton the kills are much more handy i think, right next to the x-fader. ive made some tapes with the rm-3 and the sound quality is good, but the levels seem to be all wrong no matter what i do? probably just me though . the 275 is better than the 175, sound quality, build, accuracy, etc.
When you go to get a mixer, ask to try it out! stand both sides of the speakers, use all channels and dials and kills, with both cd and vinyl if you can seeing as you intend to use both. also bring your headphones and listen through them, also see whether you like the feel of the buttons, x-fader on a model better.
j_spot is right you don't need a 3 channel mixer, but it can be easier, and i dont use the x-fader much, i generally just use the volume and gains, i feel it is much more accurate. but at the end of the day it is your personal preference.
always ask what the guy in the shop says, most of the time he will help you very well, but always say you have a lower budget than you really do have as some guys will try to make you spend more.
i suggest you have a look at http://www.htfr.com as it shows just about every mixer, all in british pounds, but it'll give you an idea, and feel free to ask me more, i will do my best to help as other guys and galls have done for me.
edited to fix quote
