advanced external to internal mixing

i got an external 14 channel mixer and i want to mix my mp3s together.... i have been mixing for 6 years now and i know all technics with cdjs and turntables... but what i want to do is run some type of software and somehow use the channels of my mixer to control the volumes and eq etc of the incoming signal.... so external mixer but internal mp3 players for a recording sesion....

if i am not mistaken i believe this is what AVB does to create his ASOTs

If i'm not mistaken AvB uses Ableton Live to create his ASOT's. Don't know about mp3 and external mixer, but maybe you can use i.e. Traktor with two soundcards and assign each output to a channel on the external mixer. Then route one of the outputs (master or booth) from the mixer back to your pc and record it. Just an idea .

You have been mixing for 6 years but you dont know how to line in a computer with tractor?

You have been mixing for 6 years and know all the techniques, but you have never heard of finalscratch?

You have been mixing for 6 years, but have been asleep this year, as MP3 cd players have come out?

Where have you been mixing, weddings and bar mitzvahs?

Does that matter?

Maybe he doesn't have turntables or doesn't want to invest in FS + turntables.

Why should he buy cd players. Maybe he just wants a simple solution to play his mp3's from his pc without too much hassle and buying stuff. I think if he wanted to he would've bought the necessary TT's or cd players.

Actually the point of my post was the unintentional hilarity of his posts...

He asked an absolutely ridiculously simple question, where basically his solution is a 2 dollar cable from radio shack. However, he did it by prefacing it with "i have been mixing for 6 years now and i know all technics with cdjs and turntables..."

It seemed ironic that someone so skilled, as to know ALL technics (sic) with cdjs and turntables, would ask something like that.

Its like saying "Im a 10K USD a night superclub DJ, how do I plug my turntables into my DJM-600"

STFU he asked a valid question.

K now to the guy that asked the question. I'm assuming you'd like preserve the funcitonality you'd normally find in a turntable/cdj while having access to your computer's music library. You're are going to need a program like Traktor or something similar. There are many to choose from its a personal choice really so try before you buy. I'm not going to be a dipshit and tell you what kind of cables you need, you know your own equipment better than I do. Hopefully someone else with more experience with DJing off the computer can come in here and help you a little more. Don't be afraid to ask more questions the guy that flamed you was being a jerk.

Dude chillout, he wasn't flaming him as you might have seen in his second post explaining it. Yes, it was a valid question but cybertranceJPK just mentioned the paradox in the first post.

I don't see a paradox. Maybe you should brush up on your command of the english language. The man merely said that he knows about hardware mixing but nothing about software mixing so if we could help him out a little. The next guy flames him and says its such an easy $2 radio shack solution when its anything but. The guy is going to need software and probably a soundcard upgrade, maybe even dual sound cards. I guess from the way you see it though its ok to stick your dick in someone's mashed potatos because of some "paradox".

Whatever dude . And excuse my lack of knowledge in the english language, but the last time I checked 'paradox' was certainly not an english-only word. So, maybe YOU should open a dictionary once in a while . From your two posts here we can clearly see you're a bit frustrated and you've added totally nothing.
With all that said, I'll doubt the topicstarter will even be back.

Yeah I wouldn't come back either if people flamed the hell out of me for asking a valid question. Oh yea I was talking about language usage which isn't found in a dictionary so maybe you should read one yourself. There is no paradox. You've never known anyone thats been DJing for a long time and has never touched software before? I do I know a lot of people like that so i fail to see where the paradox is .

Not to start a flame war, but you are not the brightest cat ive met on this board and that is for sure.

The paradox exists in boasting that you know ALL technics (sic) with turntables and cdjs, but do not know how to use your MP3s.

If you knew all techniques turntable, then you would know the technique that is called putting on a timecoded record.

If you knew all cdj techniques, then you would know the technique of putting in an mp3 cd into one of the mp3 capable decks on the market.

His question was valid, but unintentionally hilarious due to ridiculous boasting. If you are coming on the board to learn, why the fuck do you post that you have already learned everything (knowing ALL technics (sic))?

EDIT: BTW, I am actually an English teacher here in Japan, with a degree in Japanese linguistics. I speak a couple of other languages as well, so I kinda know my way around the spoken and written word. I was wondering if you could tell me about your special usage of paradox. I am unfamiliar with it, and I would really like to learn more.

EDIT 2:

quote:

This is a great quote for you. In one case, it could be taken as self-ownage, becuase you say your usage isn't in a dictionary, but he should read one himself. On the other hand, the contradictory nature of that could actually be your sly little way of expressing your idea of a paradox. Hmmmmmm.... self-ownage or brilliance? I wonder.

k... first to start off im just gonna bluntly say that cybertranceJPK your a complete moron and you need to stick to japaness and not music. Final Scratch requires turntables, an mp3 cd player is a damn external cd player, and if radio shack has a 2 dollar solution then pioneer, technics, and stanton would all be out of business. All I was asking was is there a way to tell tractor, Live, or whatever the software maybe be, that you have an external mixer and you want to use that to mix your tracks. I have used both tractor and final scratch but none of the two with an external mixer, and i dont know if that can be done. So based on that and your inteligence i sugest that you stick to translating or whatever that you do. And stay away from music and from helping people. Moreover let me know when your bar mitzvahs is and I will be there congradulating you.
