i know this might be a wierd question , but to me its all about the transition from one record to the next..I've noticed when transitions are sloppy i never really get pumped for the record being brought in. So i was curious to know how all us trance addicts mix.. Personally my favorite way to mix a record in is introducing it slowly, tweakin the nobs ever so slightly until the new record is louder then the other then BANG kill it to one all at once.. I do love quuick transitions as well , but it has to be the right record-one that brings the energy up a notch, or breaks down into emotional melodies.. Please share with me your mixing techniques im interested to know what you look for in a mix..

a good transition is different from mix to mix. also different as to where it is in your set.
sometimes 2 songs sound great blended together for a long time...other times you may want to do a quick transition with the 2 songs you are mixing together.
some songs have a short breakdown towards the beginning and dont really give you any other option.

true, but man i hate it when DJ's try to force 2 records together jst because there both good records..when spiining live i guess you sometimes gotta do what u gotta do.

no way is there one way to do it for all transitions. a kill like you're talking about doesnt always sound good. just depends on the songs, the mood, everything. theres no one-size-fits-all way.

totally different topic. i was assuming that the 2 records being transitioned were already figured to work together.

as dumb as it sounds, that's the only way i mix... otherwise the transition sounds rushed and abrupt imo. sometimes it works well, but most of the time i have really long transitions that slowly blend into each other.

I like to mix in a way that makes people say "I cant believe its not butter." It doesnt always work like that though My mixing style all depends on the genre of the tunes Im playing. I play more breaks than trance now; I tend to mix breaks more 'aggressively' than I do trance.
