technics connections

hey, sort of new to djing but not to the music....quick question about the wires on technics 1210s..maybe any turntable....besides the two phono plugs and the ground wire and the power lead into the wall thing there is one more wire....whats it for? sorry if its a stupid question...thanks

hi im not familiar with technics (atleast the tables) or any vinyl decks for that matter but maybe this will help:
if its a "digital" or optical cable it could be for relay play or something along those lines...hope that helps.

mine do not have an extra wire either...two RCAs (red/white) and a ground...
btw...if anyone knows how to extend the ground wire please post thoughts in my threat "ground wire extension?" thanks!
