i had the vmc-004xl....it does NOT have xlr outputs i dont know where you got that idea...to be 100% honest though i LOVE that thing its not only a great mixer to start out on but great for even mid-range or advanced dj's...very good sound quality and has full kills on the eqs for those who use them. cheap, 4 channels, nice layout, straightforward, etc thats my highest recommendation other than the djm800 (which i have since moved on to)

i think vestax are all the same, just different shapes and sizes.. lol

I have a pcv-002 , and its a good mixer for a 2 channel.. no extra bells and whistles, but it works great..

also, i have a citronic 4 channel collecting dust, and i liked it for the gain/eq knobs (spaced nicely for my chubby fingers)

i used to have a vmc-004, the old one w/rca outs. it was pretty good. it was well built. the sound was good, considering it's price range.

i don't think people talk about it much becuase it doesn't shoot lasers, or have dazeling array of neon lights like some of the other gimmicy mixers that some insist on having because they have built effects or beat counters.

in terms of raw sound and build quality, the vmc-004 out outshine anything by gemini, numark, and stanton put together.

also, if you want to step up to a higher quality mixer, the pmc37, pmc55, the mp22 and mp24 are available on ebay, and the prices are not bad either.

it still surprises me the little talk on these mixers, they are similar in price to some SHIT mixers newbies get, like some Behringers and crappy Stantons. these make WAAAY more sense. bleh

i need a good mixer, and i'm basically broke. i think i'm gonna go with a Vestax. these look nice, but the only 1 channel cue at a time i don't like. the Tascam looks like what i'd like. anyone know of that one?

i had a pioneer djm-300s and i sold that because i pretty much hated it and bought a vestax pcv-175 because i wanted a mixer where you don't hear the eq changes in headphones and i have to say that i love the mixer. sure it looks ugly as fuck, it's old and discontinued and there's a few minor details i'd change if i'd be after a perfect mixer, but still i think it's miles ahead of the craptastic djm-300.

I have the VMC-004 and there are no XLR outputs. But I do have the cross fader curve control.

This mixer is definately worth the buy if you're on a budget, or just don't need all those fancy bells and whistles. I have no complaints about this mixer. It's solid and realiable. The knobs feel fantastic as well as the upfaders. One thing I love about it is the cueing capabilities. It allows you to hear the master, the cue'd track, or both at the same time in your headphones.

good info. im actually looking into starting with a Vestax VMC-185XL, VMC-180 or even the VMC-004XL off djdeals too. I want something with at least 3 channels, planning on using my PC to start off then adding two CDJs when I have more cash.

i had the XL and it didnt have XLR outputs...from what i understood i thought neither the XL or 004 has xlr outs...atleastm ine didnt maybe an older version did.

i just bought a vestax vmc-002

my djm-500 will eventually get old...and become rare !
