4. Quicky to the fader into the middle (he told me to make sure that the 2nd song's volumn is at the middle)
5. Work the EQs. (whatever the hell that means)
6. Fade out out the first song by trimming up the second song.
Is this right? Because I heard him one time and he couldn't even match the beats right. |
I'll try to explain:
Matching beats doesn't go by 16th or 32nd.
To put it simple, the second song's clap/snare has to be in the same place as the first. so your put in the 2nd song on headfones when the cycle of 16/32/ beats of the first record starts
Now you have to speed up the 2nd song phones if it is to slow(with main pitch), and slow down the 2nd song if the beat runs away(also with main pitch). Now you need a while to get the beatmatch exactly, especially when spinning trance with long transitions you need a steady beatmatch. You think(dutch>english) right but you have to mind the clap, if you already do, that's good.
It's not right to say 16th or 32nd because that's pretty fast(it's a fourth(16th note) or a 16 th(32nd note)part of 1 beat( I play the trombone so I notice it). You can be original to cue the track on the first beat of the start of the cycle(16/32 beats) but fade in when you want and not on the first beat. You can do it quikly but more time for the fadein is better.
Working the eq means you can't put two track on with the second song also having a full eq then your sound will be louder and you want it to be equal, right. So you turn down either high mid or low down as you wish and do a croosfade with the eq when the second tracks fader is up you turn the first song's high slowly or direct down and song two up. You have to know how your levels are originally to have the sound of the second song right, I ussually do it with listening instead of learning the eq.
Well, if anything is not clear, I would like to hear it!!
Good luck with djing
