does anyone know anything about this place? I'm intrigued. |
Lava is a dope spot right in the heart of midtown. As far as intimate house shows, most will agree that Lava is the spot. There is a Turbo Sound Rig Downstairs and 3 Levels, 3 Bars & an outdoor patio for the spring/summer time. Check www.cosmolava.com for fore info - they have some great photos posted there as well. Garth happens to be one of my fav's and its a special treat to have him here in Atlanta.

yeah Lava is a decent place. might be a tad small so if the crowd is huge, expect mad lines and no room at all to do anything. DJ Garth is the shit though. mad under-rated. I'd go if I wasn't poor. |
There will be plenty of room on Thursday. The club really just gets packed to the gills on the weekend, when all three levels are open. For those pinching pennies at the moment, there will be no cover up until 10PM, so get there early for the discount. Hope to see ya there Monkchichi!

Anyone that went to the show awake yet? |
Where to begin...
I should probably begin by mentioning a few things Garth told me at the end of last night while we were sitting at the bar. Garth has been coming to Atlanta to play for years and was even @ Lava several years back. He told me that he had never seen that much energy and "vibe" in this town from such a "younger" group of people. He thoroughly enjoyed all he met and re-met and as some of you may or may not know, Garth has family here in Atlanta. His sister and mom are moving from here and last night was, in a way, a Finale for Garth's club gigs here in Atlanta. Thanks to all who came out and enjoyed a bit of a different sound within the lava walls.
Now...to the music; an amazing mix of proto-disco singles (Shirley Lites - Heat You Up (Melt You Down)), 80's club classics (Yazz - Don't Go/Situation) to wicked old school breakbeats reminiscent of the early 90's Full Moon Parties along the Northern California Coastline. My favorite tunes of the night...the last (3) Rekids!!!!
1. The Countach - Aqua Marina
2. Renee & Angela - ???
3. Max Berlin - Elle Et Moi
At times the fog got a bit out of control...in fact I walked downstairs at one point and it was the thickest i've ever seen it. Apparently Garth was given access to the fog machine controller and had a heavy hand on the on/off switch.
Club was holding everyone from B-Boys (Madclout Crew), House Dancers (4Deep Fam, Adrian, Sachiyo & Javier), Hip Hop Beat Heads (Weekend Recking Crew Fam from 88.5), DnB Folks (Beta, Tru-Form, DiNovo) to the lava usuals (you know who you are).
Next month...Lars Behrenroth (Deepershades Radio Show, XM Ch. 80) - info/flyer to be posted later today.
4DEEP SAYS THANKS!
