This article pretty much sums up the U.S. stance on "soccer" and its upward ascent at a snail-like pace. The media (excluding ESPN) is pretty much the one that is holding back this sport.
After I read that article, I want to apologize to the world on behalf of my country. I am sorry for this nation full of ignorant morons in the media . It seems as if this nation is still at square one.

Let me throw in the words post-modernism, existentialism and nihilism, talk about the meaningless of life, throw in some evolutionary pop science, and hope to confuse myself and my audience into making a point

i read the first couple of paragraphs and then realized that ive heard it all before from the media. the game against italy was a good game, not a great game. beating portugal to open the 2002 WC was a great game for us the only problem was that it was on at 2 in the morning here. our home league is still lacking and until we can consistently deliver a quality product the average fan wont really care about the sport. however, i think there are more and more people that are becoming fanatics here. it'll take some more time but the sport is definitely going to catch the average fan and turn them into the fanatic.

interesting article. one can clearly see that the author is a bitter old failed athlete, one that either failed at "soccer" itself, or american football.

if anything, hockey is a boring ass sport. at least in "soccer" you can see the white ball getting kicked around, and you just can't miss a goal being scored. in hockey, ..um... i can't really keep track of the puck.
