Mixer output level

where should I leave the master output level on the mixer? Should I leave it at the max at all times or in the middle?

You should leave it at a level so that your signal isn't constantly playing int the red. This is assuming that you have VU meters on your mixer. If you don't have then, you can buy then separately.

If you consistantly play in the red, then you risk the chance of distorting your signal and wearing down your mixer prematurely. If you need a louder signal, then either adjust the attenuation on your mixer (if you can) or crank up the signal at the amplifier/receiver.

I always have mine at +2 db (double orange) for constant music and +4 (single red) for short peaks and I've never had a problem. Also don't keep your eq's up too high, this can make the music sound bad too.

I always keep mine at -2 to 0 (0 = at high peaks)

Can someone explain me what that attenuation-thing is?
