28/04/03 - Groomy Day :(

Tommorow marks the Israeli "Memorial Day For The Halocaust And Heroism" ...

Shockingly, it will also mark exactly half a year since this:

Heard about this when it happened... didn't know it was your teacher.

It was sad reading about it 6 months ago, even more heartbreaking when you reach a little deeper into the people that are affected by such atrocities. I'm truely sorry.

6 months later...

We see the same bullshit happening.

Some might say we have the road map to peace to look forward to... that’s not enough!

Peace in the Middle East seems like hopeless endeavour.
Forever we will have anti-Semitism; history has proven this to us.

As long as Jew's have a place to call home, someone will undoubtedly be upset. Until a new generation of kids grow up without the daily brainwashing and incitement from home, school, and religious institutes (in all countries alike), peace will never be achieved and maintained. Understanding is key. Once they understand, they will stop hating. In parts of asia they think Jew's have horns...like WTF is that?

54 days left till my departure for Israel… I’m just hoping that Arafat will be out of control over security and finances by then.

Road map to peace = replacing a terrorist with another.

I'm a student of the Shoah, and I think more than anything the lesson that should be taken out of it is the dangers of nationalism, and obsession with ones race, religion, and so on down the line.

Holocaust Rememberence Day to me is more than a rememberence of the 6 million Jews and 11 million total people slaughtered, it should be a reminder to not allow ourselves to be blinded by the same things that the Nazis were barely over 50 years ago.

This isn't just about people who hate Jews to me, it's about *any* nationalist/rascist group who adds to the hate and lack of understanding in the world.

My strongest lesson of the Shoah and also the very educative journey to Poland with my entire grade and the preparations for it is indeed to beware the effects of nationalism... I also came to more clearly appreciate Israel being a Jewish state, though I highly object to the way Jews are privilleged within it, I would not know what would we do without having a state, I always hope it won't be necessary in the future, once religion will indeed be a matter of a person and himself, no organizations, no fake families turning you against other religions. For now it is essential.
