Trance in USA

What is happening with tru original trance music in USA ...

It seems like it is dying , At least it seems that way in south florida. Down here evrything is Progressive house , and some progresive trance.
I remember when in clubs all you could hear was trance.
What is the situation in rest of the USA and World?

i remmebr a long time a go a post about anne savage saying america was 2 years behind in the dance music scene, and quite a lot of people ubbishing this comment.

although if you think about it, prog started to make it big late 2000 and into 2001 over here, ie like when gatecrasher was prog almost every week.

are you all gonna be raving about hardhouse soon

I live in Louisiana and it's a little rare here. We get the usual Moonshine dj's roughly every few weeks. Tiesto's comin this month (which is a once a year thing) to New Orleans. I heard PVD is Comin this way to but I'm not sure. But as far as real trance and BIG dj's we don't get a whole lot either

oakenfold said the same thing. How the US was the leader in dance waay back when in the 80's and now they are really behind. I guess mainly cuz all the action happens in Europe. North American countries are too strict to have any great stuff happen

I was in Denver the other day buying vinyl, and I was askin one of the guys who worked there some questions and his response was "trance is dying." I assured him that it wasn't and he said "well it is in Colorado." Anyways I realized then that it was useless to argue w/ him, however I can say that out of all the electronic genres that they carry, trance and prog house are by far the smallest sections. It seems as though House is quite large, I have a buddy who spins UK hardhouse and thats it. However I do have one friend who spins hard trance, which is nice, other than me and my close friends who spin a range of trance to hard trance to prog house.

And as far as dj's in the clubs around here are concerned. Last time I made it down to the church, my roomie and I were talkin to the resident in the basement, who is an awesome dj btw, good mixin and great track selection. I asked him why he didn't spin upstairs in the main area, and he said that he used to, then the club started to tell him what to spin. So it was either do that and play in the main room, or play whatever he wants and play in the basement, well he chose the basement naturally. So when it comes to big name dj's we seem to have quite a variety around here, trance to prog house, to house to breaks etc. So thats cool I guess, obviously I'd personally rather hear trance, but I do have an appreciation for all genres, some more so than others though.

"I’m a dance floor favorite? Great! I would say the passion that I feel for the music I buy and the honesty with how I play it. I play the records I love not the ones that simply work. I’ve never taken the easy music option (which would make me a lot more money by the way) but chosen to push people a little. I try to draw people in a new direction slightly and expand their taste a little more than other DJ’s." - Lee Burridge
