I've only had experience with pcs and you definitely could use your line in and some prog to distort the wave and then output it to your mixer.

An LFO is not a filter, it's an oscillator. Therefor, I don't see it being possible to use a low frequency oscillator as a send. It would have to be used as an insert, somewhere between your mixer and amp, so you won't be able to monitor the sound with the lfo attached to it.

An LFO is usually used to alter a certain sound. If you used it to alter the entire song, then i don't think it would sound to great. The pitch of the track (not the speed) would be going up and down, and that would include the pitch of the symbols, kick, bassline.

What kind of effect are you trying to get out of this?

edit:

Just read you're trying to put it between deck and mixer. you would need to get some kind of device that creates LFO's. There may be some sampelers out there that can do this in real time, but as I said, I don't think it would sound too great. Normally, the LFO is on the synth itself.

Like cheggy said, it's not that clear what you are actually trying to achieve?

One thing you must bear in mind though, is that your turntable will need to go through a phono pre-amp if you're trying to pass the signal through an effects processor before being fed to the line-in on your mixer. At lot of effects boxes won't have a pre-amp built in, but then again, some (e.g. KAOSS pad) do

The other thing I'm thinking is that if you connect directly between turntable and mixer, you're only going to get the effect on one deck. Is this what you're after?

i just like to mess with my music.
there is no "real" reason why i do anything.

ok so what if i put an EQ with the LFO ?
then i could just mess with what i wanted to ?

No. An eq will only lower or raise a certain frequency range. That frequency range will still contain more than one sound. For example, if you listen to a kick, the frequencies in that sound are from the bottom of the lows through the mid-range and include a bit of treble as well.

I don't think an LFO is what you want. If you supplied an LFO to an unamped phono signal, then the LFO would be way too strong and once the sound with the LFO is preamped and amped again, the LFO would take over alot of the sound.

Maybe what you are after is a low-pass/hi-pass filter. This would enable you to mess with the sounds in reall time and have it sound decent.

Have a look at the Korg Kaoss Pad. It might be what you're after.
