Uh no he's not, PSP is a piece of made-for-the-computer-illiterate junk, and those who've bothered to actually learn how to use Photoshop will know this.

Anyway, in Photoshop, if you want transparency just export to GIF89a format... usually that's under file->export.

As a general rule, there is absolutely no way to do this without transparency in any program, unless you save it in a vector format (like WMF, but in which case it would not be a "bitmap" at all).

Bitmaps are by definition a raster-form graphic on a rectangular canvas. In order to save a "shape" you would need vector information, so I don't think that what you want is possible.

Sorry 'bout that.

i am currently looking into the format for DIBs and DDBs (device independent and device dependent bitmaps) and there is a provision for leaving pixel values undefined. im assuming that when the bitmap is displayed on the screen, what's under these undefined pixel values stays unaffected, so that the bitmap can have the random shape...

also windows provides APIs that let u create ur own bitmaps, u can use paths, convert them to filled regions and so on

of course these are just ideas, i really dont know if they'll work, i'll just have to find out for myself
