Brand New! Stanton rediculous torque str8-150s and st-150
Just thought I'd let the world know.
Holy crap, it looks like companies are going for massive torque just listen to this:
This one is for the str8 series version:
STR8-150
In order to satisfy both analog purists and technology-heads, the 150 Series turntables are hybrids of analog and digital technology. Both feature a phono output as well as a line output. When using the phono output, the signal remains in the analog realm from the pick-up to the output. The line output however, gives access to the on-board, high quality digital key correction feature.
A strong motor and high-end technology coupled with a heavy duty steel body, the 150 series turntables are truly the strongest and most durable turntables ever created.
Super High Torque Direct Drive Motor [4.5 Kgf-cm]
Height Adjustable "STR8" Tone Arm
Start/Brake Speed Adjustment
Dual Start/Stop Buttons
Key Correction
Digital Output [S/PDIF]
Selectable Phono or Line Output
Reverse Play
Quartz Lock
Up to 50% Pitch Control
Motor Off Feature
Removable Target Light
Includes Headshell, Slipmat, all Cables and Stanton 680HP Cartridge
Heavy Duty Steel Faceplate
here's the link for more info. http://www.stantonmagnetics.com/alpha44/tt_str8-150.asp
Looks like another fierce competitor.
BTW, I only found one UK site offering them as "coming soon" products for 549 pounds each.

Oh baby they're nice. But I won't buy them in the near future. As of now they'll probably be a fair bit cheaper than the MK5G's, but alot more than the M3d's and it's rival the ttx1. Which is damn expensive. They'll be a price drop. I'll wait when I buy another pair. Decks seem to be coming out more frequently these days.

Oh yea... can someone tell me how you can change tonearms if you don't have a ttx1? I know it's simple and requires no tools on a ttx1, but I guess that means you can switch them with tools then?
Throw me a frikkin tonearm here.
Yea that's lame.

actually i found them at www.planetdj.com for $500 USD each.
Much less than the original 540 pounds i first mentioned.
Maybe I might get a pair... I'll wait to first see the reviews before they launch and if they're all that I may just go for it.
... Wish I knew what would be the best choice with the ttx1's, tech mk3's and now this one around. Bah. I'm guessing power/stats-st/str8-150's, features-ttx1 and reliability-tech 12s. Whatever, just wait and see. I believe that appox 2 weeks is when they launch, If I do get them, I'll give you d00ds a personal rundown.

Let's not get carried away here people. Too much torque is a BAD thing! Yes it may start up very quickly, but what about when you want to beatmatch? It will require quite a bit more force to adjust the speed of the record. Slowing it down isn't too hard, but speeding it up, especially by spinning the nipple is very difficult. I think that the TTX1 pushes this limit. It is not very easy to speed the TTX1 up in very small portions. With even more torque, you'll have to work out just so that you can beatmatch!
You don't need a lawnmower engine to spin your records!
