I don't have either, but I have used both (friends and causins). Have you tested both. You should know that they have a different feel. I personally like the decks, even thougn I don't own any (use mixvibes software). I think I have more of a control with turntables. The cd decks remind me more of the computer,, things are just a button away, while on decks, you control the cue points. In otherwords, i would say that decks are more hands on. I find it easier to mix on cd changers, but I think that is becuase I'm accustomed to mixing on my PC. My causin on the otherhand, finds it more difficult to mix on cd changers (he uses decks). Vinyl is more expensive too. However, singles (depending on the music) are easier to find on vinyl. Thats just my opinion. Hope that helps. Obviously each have their advantages and disadvantages

It depends on you.. If most of your music collection is on cd, think of all the vinyl you have to buy just to spin a set..
However if you start djing with vinyl, you'll find it easier to move on to mixing with cd or md than the other way round..
Well that's just my opinion.. I use both cd and vinyl

Go with what you want to play more...or just get decks and a cd player as well and just hook it up to your mixer.

The main thing I was worrying about is that i've heard DJs that spin only CDs sometimes get less respect, and are considered amateurs... I know that used to be the case... Is it still? Sorry if these are obvious questions. I'm new to this and want to spend my money and time in the right place...

dude just get turntables. They are the best! The only reason you shouldnt get turntables because the cost of the records!!! Other than that get turntables. Records are gonna cost you a lot of money! I am only 16 years old. and my pocket is low on cash! i cant stop buying records! its so damn fun spinning on turntables then cds! you have more control! Thats all i can say. Get Turntables. If you think about it. You should learn how to spin on turntables and then learn it on cds later. Cause Turntables started it all. Learn how to beat match on turntables and then go to cds. If you know how to spin on turntables then its much easier on cds trust me. I am telling you by experience. Cds are cool because you dont spend alot of money buying cds, just download them. But spinning on turntables is whole another experience. You basically can feel the music and flow with the crowd. Just get turntables cause you will learn how it first started.

You've got to look at it like this. You can't let being called an amatuer bother you. If you want to CD Dj then do it. I personally prefer turntables because I feel like i can control the flow and direction of my set better. I can't really explain it, but there is something about standing behind my wheels of steel that just gets me going..and remember...the only stupid question is the question that goes unasked...yeah..or something like that..ahaha
