Seminal act and key pioneers in shaping the ’99 trance explosion, Chicane, have just announced their first ever London gig at the Scala on 12 June 2003. The unique dance band will exclusively showcase material lifted from their forthcoming album ‘Easy To Assemble’, which includes collaborations with Bryan Adams, Jewel and Espiritu. The album is scheduled for late summer release and will feature a range of styles, “from the mesmerising ‘Daylight’ to the string-drenched epic ‘Empires’; from the Indian-influenced forthcoming single ‘Locking Down’ to pop gem ‘East Side Story’, on which Bryan Adams once again lends his famed gravely vocals.”
The show at Scala will feature a full eight-piece band, and alongside previews of new tracks, Chicane will return to classics like ‘Don’t Give Up’ and ‘Saltwater’. The live band’s musicianship will be matched by a stunning array of backdrops and visual effects, as well as guest performances from the likes of Bryan Adams and Maire Brennan. “This time we’re gonna go as live as possible with the new show,” enthuses main man Nick Bracegirdle. “Much more heavily percussive. I’ve got two percussionists involved: one plays live drums, one plays percussion. Shovel from M People is also part of the line up. We’ve got an amazing array of guitars, flute players and live vocalists. I’m thinking more and more that people wanna see more live bands and they wanna see it happening. We’re now in the position where we can play a whole two hour show.”
