Talking Mix Set Naming Conventions

This is for those of you with so many mix sets that you have no idea how to organize them and get rid of duplicates...

My problem is that I have a LOT of mix sets. Ultimately, I end up with duplicate files named all sorts of weird names and in all sorts of formats. This leads to wasted hard drive space and pisses me off when I learn that I have 15 copies of the same mix taking up so much space!! I wrote a program which compiled a database of DJs and their playing locations. I also wrote several algorithms for renaming the date to a format that I really like. I did this to eliminate duplicates and find some way to standardize naming my files. So here's my proposed standard format solution for mix set naming:

STANDARD NAMING:
DJ_NAME - YYYY-MM-DD - LOCATION (XX)
or for no day
DJ_NAME - YYYY-MM - LOCATION (XX)
or for no month and day
DJ_NAME - YYYY - LOCATION (XX)
or for no date
DJ_NAME - LOCATION (XX)

PROMO MIXES:
DJ_NAME - YYYY-MM-DD - Promo Mix
or
DJ_NAME - YYYY-MM - Promo Mix

DJ LINEUP EVENTS:
EVENT - DJ_NAME - YYYY-MM-DD
or
EVENT - DJ_NAME - YYYY-MM
or
EVENT - DJ_NAME - YYYY

where:
YYYY = year
MM = month
DD = day (days 1 to 9 are 01, 02, 03, etc.)
XX = part number i.e. part 1 would be (01), part 2 would be (02)

I know this is wishful thinking for people to use this format, but this format really helps organize the huge amount of sets I have. Here's why:

The date format especially helps since most dups are found by looking at files with the same date. The proposed format also lists things chronologically, which helps in searching Google for tracklists!!

A DJ name database helps prevent misspelled DJ names. Perry O'Neil is a common one (i.e. O'Niel, o neill, etc.)

A DJs playing location database is a difficult thing to create. There are so many ways of saying "Ferry_Corsten_-_Live_@_Club_Italia_Pompeii_Power_Radio_579." I finally ended up gettng rid of unnecessary descriptions and now have a small database of 300+ entries instead of the original 1500+!! Most DJs play at a regular club or on a radio station. Armin's ASOT is a perfect example. Trim your descriptions and ensure the same name is used for ALL the same clubs or radio stations and you'll find a TON of dups! (Seriously - how many times can Tiesto be live at Amsterdam Rai Megamix??)

Here's an example of one of my folders:

DJ Tiesto - 1999-10-02 - Live At Terminal Antwerpen

My format is:

(dj name) - Live at/in/on (event/club/radio show), (location if available) (date DD-MM-YY) (part if necessary)

For example:

James Zabiela - Live at Studio Martin, Bucharest 21-11-03 (Part 1)

It's hard to know in what order the source intended the date to be in though. If multiple DJs are recorded in one mp3, I always use &'s:

Paul Oakenfold & Sasha & Pete Tong - Essential Mix, Live at Que Club, Birmingham 04-11-95

Oh, and as you can see, I always put Essential Mix first. If it's a studio recorded one, I put "Essential Mix, Studio".

date

I hate when people the date format like 04-05-03 ... wtf does that mean?? April 5th or May 4th ??
Please use 2003-04-05. (YYY-MM-DD) It makes a whole lot more sense and it alphabetizes (is that a word?) easily.

I sort my sets like:

ARTIST NAME - Live @ Event (Date, Year)

for example:

Paul van Dyk - Live @ Powerzone Amsterdam (21.08.2004)

or

Paul van Dyk - Live @ Nature One 2004

this is quite comprehensive
