caps lock is a completely useful key, unless you're a compLETE MORON, IT'S FAIRLY OBVIOUS WHEN YOU HIT THE CAP LOCKS KEY (EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT LOOKING AT THE TEXT YOU ARE TYPING, THE KEY IS MUCH BIGGER, AND IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LOCATION). Just my 2 cents. If you manage to type a whole long thing in caps, MS word or any other decent text editor will detect it and repair it anyways (which happens every once in a while), including capitalization of the beginning of sentences (might not do proper names though, but in that case you just do 'switch case' and everything is fine :-) If caps lock was a "legacy" key it would simply be taken off the keyboard, ever try to type a sentence in caps without using the caps key, it is rather akward unless you are using stickyshift keys, which takes a lot of time to get used too...
