okay,hm..so you're saying about the supervisors' password. Meaning Administrator in XP?or sth similar but for IS?(that'd be Internet Security:P)

you could try emailing microsoft tech support (imm sure you said it was a legit copy of xp) as i am so sure theres going to be a way to reset the admin password, failing that is is possible to 'repair' an windows instalation, though i cant remember where i saw the exact instructions so ill go hunt them down. what a repair installion will do is wipe the device manager clean, so you will have to re install all your drivers and set up networking etc, but all the programs will stay installed, start menu will be the same, and all your data will be there and you will have a admin password as well

Have you tried physically deleting NIS manually i.e. click on the program directory and delete it to the recycle bin? - if by doing so, stuffs up your system, restore the files back to its origin?
If it does work and you would like to keep NIS (without the program blockage, try re-installing it, and enter a password thats easy to remember
Although it may tell you that you can't delete the folder becuase the actual program files are use, if that is the case and you are using Windows 2000 or higher, press alt+ctrl+del, click on task manager, then go to "processes" and manually end the program.
???
