Split your music....

Hi everyone, I am new as a member here, but have been around for quite awhile.
Just recently I was reading reviews for the very very excellent "Tranceaddicts Unite pt.2 - Mixed by Mr.Mystery" and someone said that they 'split' the set so they could get it on two cds.
Does anyone know how to do this? I have soooooooo many sets which go just over cd length and i want to get them on cds so I can listen on the go.
Anybody who knows how to split a set or which program to use I would be very grateful if they could tell me.
Thanks in advance.

There's a program called HJSplit that can split and join files.

let me recommend to you a much better program (for your stated purposes), this program is called mp3DirectCut and it is very good, i've been using it for a month or so, it took me a while to get used to the interface... it is not very straightforward.

with this program you'll be able not only to split your long set in two, but you can easily create a fade-out and fade-in for the section you cut out, pretty nice, ha?

anyways here's the link: mp3DirectCut

yeah hj split is simple and all. But it splits the MUSIC file into some UNKNOWN file.
How the heck do i burn the UNKNOWN file as an audio file onto cd?
Nonsense I say.
Ill try the mp3 one instead.
Thanks for the tip.

hjsplit will work fine to split files in half, just enter half of the size of the file when prompted in the SPLIT window

G-SUS! That mp3 direct program is confusing as hell.
I like put it at halfway after selecting the file and split it at 72"26 but then like....what do I do now?
I try save, try a bunch of things.
I just want to SPLIT IT, have the two files in a format that I can burn onto a cd and listen to.
You think they would have simple programs for this, apparently not.
HJ Split, when I split the file it comes out in some wiiiieeerd format and I cant burn the spit files onto a cd and listen to them.
Agh, any help?

with jhsplit you shouldav gotten two files, their extensions will be .mp3.001 and .mp3.002

all you need to do is edit their filename (you'll have to change the view settings if you don't have them visible) by deleting the extra numbers and leaving only the mp3 part. also you'll have to change the filename to something like part1 and part2 because they will be the same.

All HJSplit does is add a .001,.002,.003, etc. to the end of the file. Delete the .001 and add .mp3 and everything should be just peachy

It's not rocket science, pretty simple stuff.
