I dont drive but my only complaint is that transist isn't 24/7 which sometimes leaves you stranded...but other than that I would say it is very efficient.

We have one of the highest number of cars per person ratio in North America. Transit is good though too.

actually, transit here kinda sux ass
i lived in montreal for a while, and transit there is AWESOME, you can get to any part of the island at pretty much any time with no problems
in vancouver, transit can be rather expensive, it takes forever to get places, and buses and skytrain dont go to many parts of the vancouver area.
thats just my personal take on this. i drive everywhere. if the transit system was better, i'd bus :\

I spend 4 hours a day on the bus to get to and from school. Transit here sucks. Its useless if your going clubbing or anything.

transit is semi-decent here - you can get to most places easily enough, but it might take you a bit of time.

Lots of people bike all over the place.

Caleb, they're supposed to be going back to some late-night(early morning) bus services in a couple of months. It was part of the UBC u-pass program.

ugh, the stinkin u-pass
sorry to all those who bus to school, but i dont see why those who dont should be paying for those who do. if we are to pay an extra $120 or whatever the sum is for those who take the bus, then why not make those who take the bus to partially pay for our gas or parking. i just dont see it as fair. just because we drive doesnt mean we are spoiled rich brats driving bmws to school and have extra cash to throw around. lots of ppl carpool, they should be exempt. but thats just my 2 cents

I think it may have something to do with the environment

Is it really $120 for a bus pass? I'm moving to Vancouver too and might have to be busing out to Burnaby every day. That's really expensive compared to our $25 bus pass in Montreal

$25 in MTL? holy fuck..
even calgary(no bus service really past 1), but C train service till 2:30
costs $65 a month for a pass.
its rediculous.
it makes it CHEAPER to drive places.(unless you are going downtown to pay $13 a day in parking)

Vancouver is slightly different depending on the unversity. At UBC, it will be:

$20/month for off-campus residents
$15/month for on-campus residents (I think I have my numbers correct). Happening from August or September.

It's also against those who bike to and from places, but part of the agreement is later bus services, which would be really great. Having to pay $20 for a taxi everytime I leave Commodore or downtown in the early hours is a pain and a half.
