Re: Vacationing in San Fran for the July 4th weekend. Recommendations?

I'll be checking out the great San Francisco for the July 4th weekend. I will arrive in SF on Wednesday, July 1st and leave on Sunday, July 6th.
So here are the following questions I have for you guys:
- What is the most important place I must go to during my stay? In addition, what places in general should I check out?
- Where can I get the pure, no bullshit Rice-A-Roni? I'm not talking about the supermarket shit that's pre-packaged and mass produced. I'm talking about the original restaurant where it came from.
- In terms of nightlife, I'll be sure to check out The DNA Lounge, 1015, and The Cell. What nights do you recommend? It's going to be a big weekend, so I'm sure there will be lots to do.
- Which places should I avoid like the plague?
- Where did the Hippie movement start?
All the help would be much appreciated. Ten Ton Tanx in advance!

DNA Lounge: A while back, I could easily say Thursday is the night to go. Thursdays was D:Fuse night (no, not the DJ)....trance night. But, not anymore. Sucks, too, as it would usually kickin' there on Thursday nights. Now, I recommend that you check their schedule. Doesn't look like much is going on .
Important Places: Uhhh...uhhh...that's what gets me. There really are no REAL important places here to check out.Photo_bot_2k1 pretty much nailed the few - I can maybe say you should visit Alcatraz Island (old prison). I'm originally from Orlando, FL....the king place in the world for tourists, so maybe I'm the wrong person to talk about what's cool for tourists here. Mock me, as I worked at Disney World for two years during high school.
The nightlife...
1015: During your stay, definitely July 4th. George Acosta is playing that night! 1015 is a decent club - the most popular for sure. The sound system is well, bleh, and it's probably the reason why I don't LOVE the place. I've seen smaller clubs have better sound systems. But at least it's REAL REAL loud.
The Cell: I've actually never been there
Others: On July 3rd, Sasha is playing at the Mezzanine @ The Mint. Smaller club - but I like it. My only big complain - damn, it gets REAL REAL hot in there....Condensation from the ceilings and all. I would get ready to sweat if you go. Groove Tickets has more information on this.
Also, you should check out Ruby Skye. A little overclassy, but damn....the women. The music can be swank as well, just depending on the night you go.
Nope, no real rice-a-roni.
Avoid....
Southern part of San Francisco, and a part of downtown classically known as "The Tenderloin."
Hippie movment...
Haight & Ashbury (An intersection) is the most popular cross street known from the revolution. Basically in the heart of the Haight district of San Francisco. A bit touristy now (and not really in a good way....there's a damn Ben & Jerry's on the corner of Haight & Ashbury now).
