Constructive criticism on the song I am working on

Throughout the last couple of weeks I have been trying to get into the production end of the trance music scene. When I started I told myself that I would post to the TA forums for critiquing when I finally get something together that sounds reasonable. Well, this is it...

Download it here

I produced the track in MOTU's Digital Performer, and have every sound running out of a KORG Triton Rack. I also have an O1v mixer, the MOTU 2408 for D-A & A-D, etc. What are most people here using for their setups?
I relize that the song needs to develop more with additional tracks as the song goes on, but I only started working on this yesterday- so take the song as a base that I will be building upon.
How is the overall sound, and the individual sounds that I'm using? What do you think of the melody?

Very interesting! The track has a nice atmosphere and the sounds do the the job well. The saw is a bit simple, but the chord made with it sounds good. If you want to keep that single saw sound, you might want to consider a bassline, or you can take two of these saw sounds playing at the same frequentie and detune them a bit. Do you listen to progressive? There are progressive tunes that sound a bit like your track/style. They have kind of the same idea.

A good progressive tune is Drum addiction:

Maybe you like it even better than trance.

Sounds good man! Just change the saw melody a little bit, but overall I love the rhythm. Try throwing all the drums to the same compressor and they will get a little more punch.

DJMikeyP, your song Crying to Me is really amazing. Really great mix (as al your tracks I believe), good use of reverb, actually a great song with nice melodies. Only your basses are a bit weak. To bad you haven't a VA or something.
