the only opinion I got onthat package is that....do you really want the scratch mixer??

If I were you, I'd save up or get a loan and buy 2 Technics....that's what I'm doin. Advice....put that $400 towards a nyce mixer!!... you won't regret it unless you're not very serious about DJing.

Dude its understandable that you dont have alot of money, and cant afford to start buying up tech's and stuff. But it would save you alot of trouble and money if you did. If you buy tech's, chances are you will never get rid of them. Although the stantons are fine turntables, what will you do with them when you want to upgrade? It will be hard to get a good amount of cash for them, ebay or not. I suggest you go on ebay and buy techs from there.. thats what Im doing. So far so go, I bought 1 turntable, and it works great. I have a behringer DJX400 mixer that cost me $99 bucks, and Im in the market for a second tech turntable. Total cost of 1 tech turntable from ebay (the turntable came with a ortofon concorde styli, slipmat and dustcover) and djx400 mixer from DJ mart = $393.

Look at this from a business point of view, you can invest money in the package. You can learn on it. But what will you do when you want to upgrade. Selling it wont be easy, which means pretty much wrenching out about another $500-600 for techs.

or

you can save up for tech's and never really need to upgrade.

I would recommend not buying a 'package'. Usually the mixer thrown in with those things is pretty substandard. If you dont have much money to spend youre best option is probably to save up until you do, but if you absolutely must have some kit to play with then pic your decks and your mixer separately, likewise you dont need top notch head phones to start with.

I think that you can get the str8-60 for almost 400.

Sorry you've lost me. Yes the str8-60 cost about $200.00 each, but that doesn't give him a mixer, nor headphones, nor slipmats, nor headshells w/carts mounted nor any cables?

btw. str8-50 and str8-60 are pretty much one in the same, the 50 model was made as a special item for package deal only, not sold as a single unit another words... Cheers...

Basically what Vlad said. about 1 year ago I was in the same position as you looking for a cheap alternative so that I could start mixing. But I took everyone elses advice and saved to buy my techs and a good mixer. That's your best bet, this way you get to learn on the industry standard as well as not to have to upgrade down the line.
