Dancing Dude TEKNIVAL July 11-12-13 FREE!!

:::::::::: Teknival (Tech•ni•val):::::::::::

-a FREE festival of like minded people coming together to party, dance & unify in dissent.

-a celebration of DIY attitudes.

-an experiment in non-hierarchical organization and an attempt to prove the merits of a money free economy.

-an action of reclaiming space, utilizing public land that should be used by the public, but which often just sits there, unappreciated and unused.

-the creation of an autonamous zone. A space where the normal rules of society (both social and economic) are not applicable, and a new system is put in place by it’s inhabitans.

-an open invitation to all, regardless of lifestyle to get involved & MAKE SOME FUCKING NOISE!!!

:::TEKNIVAL:::JULY 11-13, 2003:::

Teknival, the name given to these free post society festivals by our European predecessors, have been common there for over a decade, reclaiming the countryside for all to enjoy.

Our teknival is no different. On July 11th- 13th, soundsystems hailing from cities all over the east coast of North America will be liberating a patch of crown land in Southern Ontario for a 3-day long, FREE, open air festival.

Teknival is an open invitation to all soundsystems/DJs/artists/musicians to get involved! There is no central organization of events. No one will stop you from setting up a p.a. system off in the woods if you're so inclined, so long as you are respectful to other teknival-goers.

Location:
Many people have been asking about the location. Exact driving directions will be released on the infoline (416) 280-6350 and on the mailing list (along with a map to make it easy). Plan to head halfway between Toronto and Ottawa along highway 7, and then north a bit. It is HEAVILY forested (no endless open fields here) so the heat won't be as much of a problem. There are a number of lakes that are close by, and although you'll need a car to get there it's very recommended as they're un-tainted by cottagers and absolutely gorgeous

Legalities:
The site is on a huge patch of untouched crown land, meaning that we all have full rights to camp there for up to 3 weeks. There is no permit needed for teknival because there are no permits needed to use crown land, we all have full rights to camp there and can bring in whatever gear we want. Noise complaints could still possibly be an issue, but that is the case with any festival including OM and WEMF. But considering the nearest cottage is over 20 km away, we're good to make some fukking noize. So again, if *anyone* tells you to leave for any reason, you do not have to listen. Use your own judgement.

That also goes for any unexpected things that you may run into along the way, including roadblocks or checkpoints telling you that "the party is cancelled, go home." THIS PARTY WILL NOT BE CANCELLED. If shit hits the fan, check the infoline again, it may point you to a backup location(s). If not, just find another route to get in.

If you're not breaking the law, there is no reason to feel like a criminal. Dance because YOU CAN!

(this msg was posted by a friend of Nat's aka TATGIRL, so if you have any questions please post them here, or go to the teknival website and ask there. Natalie doesnt have any info that isnt in this msg. sorry Nat I used ur account cuz it was logged in already on my computer)

**I know this is last minute notification... Nat just suggested today that I post it on here. If any djs, artists, musicians, dancers, jugglers, or whatever want to get involved, just bring it! and we'll find you a spot. There's lots of room for everyone and nobody will be turned away.** PET

This sounds amazing!!! I might bring a minisystem to showcase my stuff there!!...but otherwise.... great opportunity for partying!!!

I think that just like for WEMF we should have a TA camping spot, just for fun and convenience.

WHere do we get the power sources for all the equipment???

you have to supply your own power for your system. or you can bring some gas or just bring some records/cds and make a trade/donation with one of the other systems set up there.
